This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to take full ownership of the estimating function within a Principal Contractor environment. Working closely with the project and commercial teams, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders that directly impact project success.

As the sole estimator, you will manage the entire estimating process, from reviewing client enquiries and conducting site surveys to producing detailed estimates, tenders, and quotations. Your role will be critical in ensuring cost-effective and profitable project delivery.

The focus is on plant replacement and infrastructure projects for end users and PQSs (excluding data centres), with project values ranging from £5,000 to £1.5 million (M&E). While you will have support from the wider team, this is not a leadership position; rather, it’s an opportunity to take ownership of estimating within an established contracting business.

  • Strong experience in mechanical estimating within construction.
  • Background in Estimating, Quantity Surveying, or Project & Bid Management.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, assess commercial risks, and develop accurate estimates.

  • Negotiable benefits package.
  • Hybrid working (1–2 days from home), with flexibility required from both sides.

This role is ideal for an estimator who enjoys working independently while being embedded in a Principal Contractor team, ensuring projects are accurately costed and commercially viable.
