Mechanical Project Manager – CAT B Fit Out (Central London)

£65,000 – £75,000 + travel

2–3 days hybrid working

Permanent position

James Lewis are assisting a well-established, design and build building services contractor in the appointment of a Mechanical Project Manager to deliver CAT B commercial fit out projects across Central London, typically up to £1.5m in value.

This is a hands-on delivery role suited to someone who is comfortable operating in a fast-track fit out environment, taking ownership of multiple live jobs and driving programme, quality, and commercial performance through to handover.

The Role

  • Full project delivery from pre-start through to commissioning and handover
  • Managing programme, short-term lookaheads, and progress reporting
  • Procurement of plant and materials, coordinating deliveries around site logistics
  • Managing subcontractors and labour, including productivity and quality control
  • Managing technical submittals, RFIs, and coordinating with design teams where required
  • Running site meetings and driving actions across mechanical and wider trade interfaces
  • Supporting cost control and variations alongside the commercial team
  • Managing snagging, handover documentation and O&M manuals

Experience and Qualifications

  • Proven experience delivering CAT B commercial fit out mechanical packages in London
  • A mechanical building services background (time served or academically qualified)
  • Experience managing projects up to £1.5m in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety and site delivery best practice
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and maintain clear communication on site

Remuneration

  • £65,000 – £75,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Travel
  • 2–3 days hybrid working
