Health & Safety Advisor London Site Based | Permanent | £60 000 You’ll be joining an established project team supporting the delivery of a major construction project in London. Working directly alongside an experienced H&S Manager, you’ll have responsibility for the day-to-day Health & Safety activity across site, working closely with project teams, subcontractors and the workforce to maintain high standards and address issues before they become incidents. The project involves a complex construction and M&E environment, giving you exposure to a wide range of activities and contractors. This would suit an experienced H&S Advisor who enjoys being visible on site, engaging with people and taking a practical approach to Health & Safety. It would also be a strong opportunity for someone looking to develop towards a more senior H&S position while working under an experienced manager. What you'll do * Provide visible Health & Safety leadership across the project and promote a positive safety culture * Carry out regular site inspections and audits, identifying unsafe practices, non-conformances and areas for improvement * Review subcontractor RAMS, risk assessments and safe systems of work * Monitor contractor compliance and challenge unsafe working practices where necessary * Work closely with subcontractor supervisors, site managers and project management teams * Support H&S meetings, inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings * Review and monitor permits to work and ensure they are being correctly implemented * Carry out hazard identification and risk assessments across construction activities * Support accident, incident and near-miss investigations and follow corrective actions through to completion * Assist with LOLER, PUWER and other statutory inspection requirements * Maintain accurate H&S records, reports, registers and site documentation * Support the H&S Manager with project policies, procedures and continuous improvement initiatives * Keep up to date with relevant legislation and industry best practice * Work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Package Managers and Supervisors to resolve H&S issues * Promote strong workforce engagement and encourage issues to be raised and addressed early What you'll need * Previous experience as a Health & Safety Advisor or similar within UK construction * NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate – essential * NEBOSH Diploma or currently working towards one – desirable * IOSH / IIRSM membership – desirable * 3–8 years' H&S experience * Experience within construction, M&E, data centres or other technically complex projects * Strong experience carrying out site inspections, audits and H&S reviews * Good knowledge of RAMS and safe systems of work * Confidence dealing with subcontractors, supervisors and construction management * Good understanding of UK H&S legislation, including CDM * Experience delivering inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings * Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills * CSCS card About the company You’ll be joining an established data-centre specialist and technical construction business with an international presence and a strong track record delivering complex technical projects.
