A freelance opportunity is available for a Mechanical Site Manager to join the delivery team on a fast‑paced project at YASA Motors in Bicester. This is a £12m M&E package with a circa 36‑week programme, and the contractor is scaling up with the full site team due to the speed and complexity of the works. The project sits under Overbury (Southern region).
The Role
You’ll take ownership of day‑to‑day mechanical delivery on site, ensuring works are executed safely, to programme, and to the required quality standard. This is a hands‑on management role suited to someone who thrives in a high‑tempo environment and can keep multiple work fronts moving.
Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical subcontractors and direct labour across multiple work areas
- Drive programme and productivity on a fast‑track schedule
- Coordinate with M&E/CSA teams, design, and project management
- Oversee QA: inspections, ITPs, snagging, and handover readiness
- Manage RAMS, permits, toolbox talks, and site safety compliance
- Report progress, resolve issues quickly, and maintain clear site communication
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Site Manager on M&E projects
- Black CSCS SMSTS CAT B - essential (in‑date)
- Strong coordination, QA, and programme management capability
- Able to manage pace, interface, and delivery under pressure
