James Leighton Wealth Management provides clear, transparent and client-first financial advice to individuals, families and business owners. Our mission is to make high-quality financial planning accessible, understandable and genuinely valuable — not sales-driven.

We are proud of our different approach to wealth management, charging fixed fees, as opposed to a percentage-based model. It is what we feel is fair, and what we feel is in the best interests of the families and individuals we serve.

As our Wealth division continues to grow, we are building a best-in-class technical team to support advisers and deliver outstanding client outcomes.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Paraplanner to provide high-quality technical and analytical support to our Financial Planners. You will play a key role in designing and delivering compliant, tailored financial plans, ensuring that every recommendation is robust, suitable and clearly documented.

This is a technical, professional role for someone who enjoys deep financial planning work without the pressure of sales targets.

There is further opportunity for the individual to be promoted within the department, as and when the paraplanning department expands. James Leighton has a track record of rewarding our employees and we are in the process of incorporating a system in the company, whereby individuals can enhance their earnings by becoming competent in other areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse client financial data, objectives, attitude to risk and capacity for loss
  • Carry out detailed research across pensions, investments, tax planning, and protection
  • Construct appropriate product and fund recommendations
  • Prepare full suitability reports and advice documentation
  • Support advisers in developing holistic financial plans
  • Model cashflow and retirement scenarios
  • Ensure all advice meets FCA, Consumer Duty and internal compliance standards
  • Liaise with providers, platforms and administrators to support case progression
  • Maintain accurate client records and audit trails

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a paraplanning or financial planning support role
  • Strong technical understanding of pensions, investments, and tax wrappers
  • Excellent written and numerical skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Confidence working with advisers
  • Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (DipPFS or equivalent)
  • Experience using cashflow modelling software
  • Experience producing suitability reports
  • Experience working with Quilter Financial planning systems

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Bonus, based on department performance
  • Exam and CPD support
  • Health Cash plan
  • Hybrid working options
  • Exposure to a wide range of complex and interesting client cases

Why Join Us?

You won’t be a “back-office processor” here. You’ll be part of a growing, ambitious Wealth team where technical excellence is valued and where you can genuinely influence the quality of advice clients receive.
