We are recruiting a Senior Health & Safety Advisor to support a major project in the South East for around 12 months before progressing into a wider senior role, providing leadership and HSE oversight across multiple sites throughout the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead HSE delivery on a major civils project, ensuring high standards across workforce and contractors.
- Line-manage HSE Advisors, setting priorities and supporting development.
- Maintain PMP, CPP, KPIs, RAMS, task briefings and permit systems.
- Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, behavioural safety programmes and HSE briefings.
- Provide competent technical advice on planning, managing and monitoring HSE matters.
- Identify project risks and opportunities and brief site teams.
- Support incident control, notifications, investigations and close-out actions.
- Ensure compliance with the HSE management system and conduct inspections/audits.
- Produce accurate HSE reports and maintain records.
- Represent the business at progress meetings.
What You’ll Need
- Proven experience managing people and stakeholder relationships.
- Willingness to travel and stay away when required.
- Full UK driving licence.
- NEBOSH Diploma (minimum) or equivalent, progressing to next qualification.
- Current IOSH membership (mandatory) and working toward Chartered status.
- 3-5 years experience with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 civil engineering contractor.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.
- Confident engaging with workforce, contractors and regulators.
- Organised, reliable, proactive and team-focused.
- Strong IT literacy (Microsoft Office).
