James Lambeth Recruitment are working on behalf of a leading UK civil engineering contractor to recruit an experienced Regional Health & Safety Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected contractor delivering major infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the UK. The successful candidate will take a lead role in driving health, safety and environmental excellence across a portfolio of projects while managing and developing a regional HSE team.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior HSE Manager and working closely with operational leadership teams, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance across multiple projects within your region.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading all regional HSE activities across a portfolio of civil engineering projects
- Managing and mentoring HSE Advisors and site management teams
- Developing positive relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders
- Supporting the preparation and implementation of Project Management Plans, Construction Phase Plans and associated HSE documentation
- Reviewing and approving RAMS, risk assessments and safe systems of work
- Conducting audits, inspections and compliance reviews
- Leading incident investigations and ensuring lessons learned are effectively communicated
- Delivering coaching, mentoring and behavioural safety initiatives
- Monitoring project performance and reporting key HSE metrics
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the business
Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) as a minimum
- IOSH Membership, ideally working towards Chartered status
- Previous experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, highways, utilities, energy or major construction projects
- Experience managing HSE teams and multiple project sites
- Strong knowledge xgikmsk of UK health, safety and environmental legislation
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel throughout the region and stay away when required
