Groundworks Planner Civil Engineering

We are working in partnership with one of the South Easts most respected civil engineering contractors, known for delivering high-value groundworks packages across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. With a reputation for technical excellence and a robust in-house delivery model, they are seeking an experienced Groundworks Planner to join their pre-construction team.
This is a key strategic role, ideal for someone who thrives on turning complex site logistics and programme constraints into clear, achievable plans. Youll be involved in projects ranging from multi-million-pound commercial builds to large-scale infrastructure schemesoften in live environments with demanding schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed programmes for groundworks and civil engineering packages using industry-standard planning software
- Liaise with estimators, engineers, and project managers to ensure accurate sequencing and resource allocation
- Support tender submissions with planning input, including methodology, phasing, and risk analysis
- Attend site visits and client meetings to gather intelligence and refine planning strategies
- Monitor progress against baseline programmes and advise on corrective actions
- Produce visual aids such as Gantt charts, phasing diagrams, and logistics plans
- Collaborate with site teams to ensure plans are practical and aligned with delivery capabilities
- Contribute to continuous improvement in planning processes and tools
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience in planning groundworks or civil engineering projects
- Strong understanding of bulk earthworks, drainage, RC structures, and external works
- Proficient in Asta Powerproject, MS Project, or similar planning tools
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Able to work across multiple tenders and live projects simultaneously
- Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or specialist subcontractors preferred
