A long-established civil engineering contractor delivering coastal defence, flood alleviation, earthworks and infrastructure projects is looking to appoint a permanent Quantity Surveyor. The business operates across schemes typically £2m-£40m and forms part of a wider group with turnover exceeding £100m. Strong pipeline, long-term frameworks, and a reputation for technical delivery make this a stable and progressive environment for a QS looking to step up.
The Role
You will provide full commercial support across live civil engineering projects, ensuring strong financial control, accurate forecasting, and effective contract administration. Working closely with Operations, you will drive value, manage risk, and maintain positive relationships with clients and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer NEC/ECC contracts and ensure compliance with company processes
- Manage budgets, risks, forecasts, and CVRs
- Prepare applications for payment and manage cashflow
- Procure and negotiate with subcontractors to secure best value
- Identify and price variations, maximising commercial outcomes
- Support the site team with cost and value reporting
- Maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience as a QS in civil engineering
- Strong understanding of NEC, ECC, ICE or JCT contracts
- Solid commercial, procurement and financial awareness
- Good IT skills (Excel, Outlook, commercial systems)
- Full UK driving licence
- HNC/Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (preferred)
- RICS (desirable)
Package
£45,000 - £85,000 depending on experience, car or car allowance, full benefits package, long-term career development within a stable civil engineering contractor.
