A specialist ground investigation contractor is seeking a Site Investigation Engineer to support a busy programme of works across the UK. The role is focused on setting out borehole and trial pit locations, supervising drilling crews, logging soils/rocks, and delivering high-quality factual site data.
Key Responsibilities- Set out borehole and trial pit locations using GPS/total station.
- Supervise drilling crews and excavation teams.
- Carry out and oversee trial pits, boreholes, window sampling, coring, and in-situ testing.
- Log soils and rocks to BS5930 standards.
- Collect geotechnical and environmental samples.
- Produce accurate field logs, daily records, and factual reports.
- Ensure compliance with RAMS, CDM, and site H&S protocols.
- Liaise with PMs, designers, and client teams to ensure smooth delivery.
- Background in geology, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, or earth sciences.
- Experience in UK ground investigation.
- Ability to set out boreholes and trial pits accurately using GPS/total station.
- Strong understanding of UK H&S and CDM.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Freelance or permanent employment routes.
