We are seeking an experienced Surface / Cylindrical Grinder to join a long-established and highly respected precision engineering business. This is a role for a skilled grinder who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys varied small-batch work, and values work–life balance. The company offers genuine flexibility around working hours and a stable, well-organised workshop environment.
Salary and Working Hours:
- Flexible start between 6:00am
- Standard day shift pattern
- Early finish every Friday
- Strong emphasis on work–life balance (Exact hours can be discussed to suit individual circumstances.)
- Up to £18.50 per hour depending on experience

The Role:
You will be responsible for setting and operating surface and cylindrical grinding machines, producing high-precision components in one-off and small batch quantities. This is varied subcontract work across multiple industries — not repetitive high-volume production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full setup and operation of surface and/or cylindrical grinders
- Working to tight tolerances from engineering drawings
- Selecting and dressing grinding wheels
- In-process inspection and final quality checks
- Maintaining high accuracy and finish standards
- Working independently within a structured quality environment
Experience in CNC grinding would be advantageous but is not essential.

- Ability to work from detailed engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of tolerances and surface finishes
- Confident setting up machines independently
