A modern precision machining environment is looking for an experienced CNC Sliding Head Programmer / Setter / Operator to join a growing dayshift team. This is a hands-on role with clear progression into taking ownership of the sliding head section — including responsibility for tooling control, ordering and stock management. Backed by ongoing investment in machining technology, metrology, systems and people, this is ideal for someone who wants more than just running a machine — and is ready to step into a senior/lead position over time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program, set and operate multi-axis CNC sliding head machines
- Carry out complete setups from start to finish (tools, offsets, first off)
- Troubleshoot tooling/process issues and optimise cycle times where possible
- Complete in-process inspection using measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges etc.)
- Maintain quality standards and support continuous improvement
- Over time: support/run the section including tooling supply, ordering and purchasing
Experience / Skills:
- Strong background programming/setting sliding head lathes
- Citizen or Star sliding heads
- Experience with multi-axis bar-fed machines
- Confident with thorough setups and process troubleshooting
- Comfortable working with minimal supervision and to tight tolerances
