CNC Production Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Production Manager OR a Trainee Production Manager to lead a dynamic precision engineering team. The company specialises in producing high precision, one-off and prototype components, meaning every day offers new challenges and variety – no two jobs are the same. This is a hands-on role ideally suited to someone with a strong background in precision machining and a sound understanding of different materials, machining processes, and the practicalities of running a busy, high-mix machine shop. The ideal candidate will be a have a strong engineering background with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to manage workflow efficiently while supporting both machinists and customers.
CNC Production Manager Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate day-to-day operations on the shop floor, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and deadlines are met.
- Oversee workflow through the machine shop – from estimating and planning to final delivery.
- Support machinists by resolving technical and production issues as they arise.
- Liaise with customers to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and provide technical support where necessary.
- Assist with job estimation, planning operations, and ordering appropriate tooling and materials.
- Prioritise and schedule machining jobs to maximise efficiency and ensure deadlines are met.
- Monitor progress and quality across all projects, ensuring consistent attention to detail and high standards.
- Ensure health and safety procedures and company policies are upheld at all times.
CNC Production Manager Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar production management or senior machinist role within a precision engineering environment.
- Strong technical background in CNC machining – ideally both programming and operating – with a deep understanding of materials and machining processes.
- Experience with prototype, one-off, and low-volume complex components across a variety of sectors.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications with confidence.
- Skilled in organising work through a machine shop and balancing workload effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a hands-on approach to overcoming daily challenges.
- Strong communication skills – capable of supporting internal teams and liaising with customers professionally.
- Experience in estimating, planning and tooling selection is highly desirable.
- Organised, reliable and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
CNC Production Manager Requirements
- Days Monday to Thursday 07:30am-4:30pm and Friday 12:30pm finish
- £43,000-£50,000 per annum (OTE)
