An established architectural practice is seeking a talented and commercially aware Associate to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced architect or project lead looking to take on greater responsibility across project delivery, team leadership, client management, and business development.
Reporting to a Director or Associate Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in leading projects, mentoring teams, maintaining client relationships, and contributing to the continued growth and reputation of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage architectural projects across all RIBA stages
- Oversee project delivery to ensure quality, programme, and commercial objectives are achieved
- Act as day-to-day client contact with minimal senior oversight
- Coordinate consultants, contractors, statutory bodies, and wider project teams
- Lead design development and technical delivery to achieve high-quality outcomes
- Prepare and oversee technical, BIM, and tender information
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Support business development activities and identify new opportunities
- Contribute to raising the profile and reputation of the practice
- Assist with presentations, bids, fee proposals, and client engagement activities
- Manage project resources, staffing, and programme requirements
- Mentor and support colleagues across the studio
- Monitor project profitability, budgets, and performance
- Support the day-to-day operational management of projects and business activities
- Promote a collaborative and positive working culture
- Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, and the Building Safety Act
- Support quality assurance and health & safety procedures across projects
- Administer contracts and support project financial management
- Maintain professional standards and CPD requirements
About You
- Proven experience leading architectural projects from inception to completion
- Strong design, technical, and project delivery capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing teams, resources, and project programmes
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of project profitability
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, procurement routes, and contract administration
- Strong understanding of BIM workflows and technical coordination
- Experience using ArchiCAD and Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively
- Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
- ARB registered and/or RIBA chartered
- Experience across: Lifescience, Healthcare or Further Education
- Business development or client-facing experience
- Experience supporting bids and tender submissions
