We are excited to partner with our Client as they look for a Health & Safety Advisor to join their team on-site in Glasgow for a major New Build Student Residential project.
About the Project: This project, valued at approximately £60 million, is currently underway and spans a 2-year programme. As the H&S Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all staff and stakeholders, overseeing safety protocols and compliance throughout the construction process. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a high-profile project with significant impact on the local community.
About the Client: We are working with a family-owned, cash-rich and multidisciplinary main contractor. With over 50 years in the construction market, this company has built a formidable reputation delivering large-scale build developments, including projects valued up to £90m, such as hotels, accommodations, and offices. They are also renowned for their relationships with suppliers, fostering strong communication and ensuring timely payments—creating a positive working environment for all involved.
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance on health and safety matters, ensuring compliance with current legislation and company policies.
- Perform site inspections and audits to identify hazards, evaluate risks, and implement corrective measures.
- Develop, review, and update risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, compile comprehensive reports, and recommend preventive actions.
- Lead and support health and safety training sessions for site teams, ensuring full awareness of safety protocols.
- Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to foster a safety-first culture.
- Keep up to date with changes in health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
To be successful, you’ll need:
- NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Proven experience in a health and safety role within the construction sector.
- In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- A full UK driving licence.
