Our client is a well‑established construction and civil engineering contractor specialising in building works, infrastructure, and groundworks projects across Scotland and the wider UK. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Civils Estimator to join their commercial team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of civils, building, and groundworks projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator looking to join a growing business with long‑term career prospects and flexibility through hybrid working. The role will be based in the Glasgow office three days per week, with the option to work from home two days per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for civils, building, and groundworks projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to identify project requirements.
  • Carry out quantity take‑offs and pricing exercises.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
  • Assess project risks and value‑engineering opportunities.
  • Work closely with operational and commercial teams during bid preparation.
  • Attend tender review meetings and client discussions where required.
  • Ensure all tenders are submitted accurately and within required deadlines.
  • Maintain strong awareness of current market rates and industry trends.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within civil engineering, construction, or groundworks.
  • Strong understanding of building and groundworks packages.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
Package
  • Base salary of £80,000, with flexibility to increase depending on experience.
  • Car allowance provided.
  • Hybrid working arrangement – 3 days in the Glasgow office and 2 days working from home.
