This is a key position for someone who can go beyond simply collating subcontractor quotes. You will be responsible for building accurate cost models for a mix of direct labour and subcontracted works, applying our internal labour rates, allocating time and materials, and applying overheads and profit margins.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates for multi-trade projects across our work streams.
- Build up rates for specific tasks using company labour rates and productivity benchmarks.
- Allocate material costs and apply appropriate mark‑ups.
- Liaise with QS and management teams to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
- Analyse tender documents and specifications to identify risks and opportunities.
- Maintain and update pricing databases for labour, plant, and materials.
- Proven experience in estimating within construction, refurbishment, or social housing sectors.
- Strong understanding of direct labour costing and subcontractor management.
- Ability to produce detailed breakdowns (labour, materials, OHP) rather than relying solely on subcontractor quotes.
- Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- Proficiency in Excel.
