We are seeking an experienced Senior BIM Technician to join our growing design and engineering team based near Glasgow. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality BIM models and digital design outputs across a diverse portfolio of projects within the built environment sector. The Senior BIM Technician will support multidisciplinary teams, coordinate model development, champion BIM best practices, and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of digital delivery standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and manage high-quality 3D BIM models using Revit and associated Autodesk platforms.
- Produce coordinated 2D drawings, layouts, sections, elevations and technical documentation from BIM models.
- Undertake clash detection exercises and coordinate design solutions using Navisworks and related software.
- Ensure project deliverables comply with BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), company standards and client requirements.
- Support implementation and adherence to BS EN ISO 19650 processes and Common Data Environment (CDE) workflows.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors and external stakeholders.
- Participate in design coordination meetings and provide technical BIM expertise.
- Develop and maintain BIM templates, libraries, families and modelling standards.
- Carry out quality assurance and quality control reviews of models and drawings.
- Mentor and support junior BIM technicians, sharing knowledge and promoting best practice.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives, digital innovation and process optimisation.
- Support project teams to achieve programme, budget and quality objectives.
Candidate Requirements
- Essential
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a BIM Technician or Senior BIM Technician position.
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Navisworks.
- Experience operating within a multidisciplinary BIM environment.
- Understanding of BS EN ISO 19650 and Common Data Environment principles.
- Ability to coordinate federated models and undertake clash detection activities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Construction, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline.
- Desirable
- Experience within building services, infrastructure, water, industrial or structural engineering sectors.
- Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or BIM 360.
- Experience with Dynamo, scripting or automation tools.
- Knowledge of Solibri or other model validation platforms.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution.
