We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Electrical Engineer with a passion for engineering design in the field of Building Services (MEP – Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing). The ideal candidate will work on exciting UK-based projects, delivering high-quality Electrical Design and collaborating on Mechanical Design tasks. Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver detailed Electrical Design solutions for building services projects, ensuring alignment with UK Engineering and Construction standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, architects, and contractors to deliver integrated MEP design solutions.
  • Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and assessments to determine project requirements and constraints.
  • Use state-of-the-art design tools and software applicable to electrical and mechanical systems (e.g., CAD, Revit).
  • Review and ensure compliance with UK regulations, health and safety standards, and sustainability standards.
  • Prepare specifications, calculations, technical reports, and design layouts as required.
  • Proactively manage and resolve technical challenges that arise during the design and implementation stages of projects.
  • Maintain excellent client relationships through effective communication and a commitment to high-quality, timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience with UK-based Electrical and Mechanical design in the MEP sector.
  • Familiarity with UK design codes, standards and regulations (e.g., BS7671, CIBSE, IET wiring regulations).
  • Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux or similar software.
  • Proven experience in managing electrical projects from concept through construction stages.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective team collaboration and client engagement.
  • Professional accreditation (CEng, IEng, or progressing towards accreditation) preferred but not essential.

Day-to-day

  • Design and analyse electrical systems (e.g., lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, and renewable energy systems) as part of project deliverables.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate electrical systems with other building services (e.g., mechanical and plumbing).
  • Participate in project meetings to discuss progress, technical challenges and innovative solutions.
  • Generate and optimise technical documentation, schematics, calculations and equipment schedules.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project progress and validate design implementation.
  • Support the development of junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Stay updated with the latest technologies and practices within the electrical engineering and MEP industries.
