We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Principal Structural Engineer with SER Certification to join our growing team in Edinburgh.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded professional to play a key leadership role in delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across residential, commercial, education, healthcare, and infrastructure sectors.
Working within a collaborative and forward‑thinking environment, you will lead project delivery, provide technical excellence, mentor engineers, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design and delivery of projects from concept through to completion.
- Act as an SER Certified Engineer, undertaking certification responsibilities in accordance with the Scottish Building Standards system.
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance, review calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Support business development activities, including preparing fee proposals and attending client meetings.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with a recognised professional institution, such as Institution of Structural Engineers or Institution of Civil Engineers.
- Current SER Certification is essential.
- Significant post‑chartership experience within a consultancy environment.
- Proven experience leading complex structural engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of UK and Scottish design standards and building regulations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client management skills.
- Experience across a broad range of structural materials, including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
