The Opportunity
James Gray Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing engineering consultancy for a CAD Technician specialising in building structures. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated technician to join a collaborative and forward-thinking team working across a varied portfolio of structural projects within the residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use sectors. Our client is open to considering both permanent and contract professionals and can offer flexibility for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate 2D CAD drawings and structural detailing packages
- Assist engineers with the preparation of technical drawings and design documentation
- Develop structural layouts for steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures
- Coordinate drawings with architects, engineers, and external consultants
- Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards and project specifications
- Amend and update drawings throughout project lifecycles
- Support project delivery to agreed deadlines
Requirements
- Previous experience as a CAD Technician within building structures
- Proficient in AutoCAD (Revit experience advantageous)
- Good understanding of structural engineering drawings and detailing
- Experience working on UK building projects
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider technical team
- Excellent communication skills
Desirable
- HNC/HND or relevant technical qualification
- Experience with BIM/Revit workflows
- Consultancy experience preferred
