An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Payroll Advisor to join a leading professional services firm. This is a highly client-facing role where you will take ownership of complex, high-frequency payrolls across a diverse portfolio. You will act as a technical expert, supporting clients and colleagues with complex payroll queries while helping to shape best practice across the bureau. This role is ideal for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys complexity, autonomy, and being a trusted advisor rather than just a processor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payrolls across weekly, monthly, and annual cycles for complex client portfolios.
  • Process payrolls involving payrolled benefits, share schemes, Teachers' Pensions, and expatriate arrangements.
  • Handle multi-site, multi-entity payrolls with varying pay structures and rules.
  • Manage RTI submissions, HMRC correspondence, statutory filings, and year-end processes.
  • Oversee pension administration and auto-enrolment compliance.
  • Operate IRIS Payroll Professional at an advanced level, including onboarding and system support.
  • Advise clients on holiday pay, statutory payments, and Working Time Regulations.
  • Mentor and support junior payroll team members.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for resolving complex payroll issues.

About You

  • Minimum 3 years' payroll experience in a bureau or client-facing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, pensions, and statutory compliance.
  • Experience handling complex, multi-entity or international payrolls.
  • Advanced experience with IRIS Payroll Professional.
  • Confident managing client relationships and technical payroll queries independently.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex payroll issues.
  • CIPP qualification is advantageous but not essential.
