James George Recruitment is working closely with an established asset finance Funder that is expanding its direct corporate finance capability and is seeking an experienced Relationship Director to help build and scale a new unit, focused on medium to large corporates. This is a rare opportunity to join at an early stage and play a pivotal role in shaping strategy, market positioning, and long-term growth, whilst working closely with a major European Banking partner.
The Opportunity:
As Relationship Director, you will be a senior originator and trusted advisor, responsible for developing a high-value direct corporate portfolio and delivering innovative asset finance solutions. You will operate at board and C-suite level, managing complex structured transactions and influencing stakeholders across an international matrix environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and grow a direct corporate customer base from inception within the mid-to-large corporate market
- Identify, prioritise and target high-quality prospects through strategic market and sector analysis
- Originate, structure and execute complex transactions with ticket sizes exceeding £5m
- Develop tailored, innovative financing solutions, including non-interest income offerings
- Manage sophisticated client relationships in partnership with internal risk, credit and legal teams
- Prepare and present high-quality proposals to senior credit and risk committees
- Collaborate closely with a leading European banking group to maximise cross-referral opportunities
- Build long-term, senior-level partnerships that support sustainable growth
- Operate with confidence in a highly networked, international environment
Requirements:
- 5-15 years experience in asset finance, where you have been selling to corporates
- Proven ability to build new business from a standing start
- Expertise in complex structuring (e.g. bespoke leasing, tax-efficient solutions)
- Strong credit and risk capability, including cash flow analysis and stress testing
- Experience executing large-ticket (£5m+) transactions
- Commercially astute, resilient and solutions oriented
- Strong influencer with excellent stakeholder management skills
