We are seeking two Lead 400kV SAPs to join the James Fisher Renewables team and take responsibility for a portfolio of OFTO sites. In these roles, you will provide leadership in asset planning and execution, ensuring the safe, structured, and efficient delivery of all works. These positions go beyond traditional SAP duties, combining technical expertise with broader oversight and strategic influence. As the technical lead at a portfolio level, you will act as the primary point of contact for the client on all technical matters. Each Lead SAP will oversee a designated OFTO and manage a small team of 400kV Site SAPs, driving collaboration and operational excellence. You will be fully involved in the planning and execution of works, taking ownership of commercial performance through P&L responsibility. Alongside technical leadership, you will maintain strong client engagement, ensuring alignment with asset management strategies and delivering cost‑effective solutions across multiple sites.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of 400kV SAPs.
  • Support the engineering and training teams in developing a robust technical training programme.
  • Own technical oversight of the assigned OFTO portfolio, ensuring all asset‑related works are planned and executed efficiently, to highest standards supported by quality client reporting.
  • Translate asset management plans into executable programmes in collaboration with SAPs, Project Engineers, central engineering and project managers.
  • Ensure technical requirements are met across all activities, escalating risks or issues to the engineering team.
  • Lead monthly reporting on asset condition, performance, and emerging issues.
  • Write technical reports on asset issues for engineering review.
  • Champion HSEQ standards on site in liaison with the HSEQ team.
  • Liaise with the Operational Planning Manager to ensure resource availability and alignment with site plans.
  • Interface with stores and supply chain to confirm tools, equipment, and contractor engagement.
  • Perform SAP duties including outage planning, switching, safety documentation, and demarcation up to 400kV.
  • Liaise with control centre, NESO, and wind farm operator safety coordinators.
  • Act as Authorising Engineer where required, contributing to authorisation panels and training programmes.
  • Lead customer interface through monthly meetings and regular communications.
  • Work closely with Project Manager for commercial oversight, including cost management and budgeting.

What we’re looking for:

  • Advanced technical knowledge of HV systems up to 400kV.
  • Evidence of HV authorisation.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capability.
  • Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven track record in HSEQ compliance and operational excellence.
  • Significant hands‑on experience as an Authorised Person on 400kV systems.
  • In‑depth knowledge of HV safety standards and UK Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and lead technical discussions.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent preferred.

Competitive salary and benefits package aligned with experience (Private Medical Insurance, Company Pension, Life Assurance, etc.). Clear pathways for career development and organisational visibility. Inclusive and supportive culture that values individual contributions. Meaningful work with impact across safety, innovation, and global operations.
