To provide engineering design solutions and through life engineering support to the JFD product range. Workload can vary from new product design to meet client or internal specifications through to supporting an existing client's request to upgrade or change equipment in the field.
Provide engineering design input to new systems and products and provide support to the existing product range by assessing technical queries. Creation of engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification and reports and checking detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation.
Ensuring engineering solutions are provided on time and on budget and adhere to engineering and company standards and processes (compliance to internal and external standards and regulations). Accountability and responsibility as the discipline technical approver of drawings and documentation generated within the JFD engineering team.
Where applicable, the line management of a small team on performance, development, allocation/delegation of work and compliance to internal and external standards & regulations and develop and mentor team through the use of a competence framework and training, development plans and performance appraisals.
Focused on delivering high quality output to tight deadlines and willing to go the extra mile to ensure success is achieved. Proven electrical and electronics design skills. Experience programming with Structured Text (ST) and other IEC 61131-3 programming languages in CODESYS platform. Competent in the use of engineering design software tools / CAD packages. Selection of cables, connectors, and penetrators. Design and commissioning of HV and LV electrical systems and provide associated calculations. Good knowledge of electrical systems design for EMC compliance.
Demonstrated experience in an electrical engineer or product engineer role. Experience with Product Lifecycle Management system for generating and storage of engineering packages. Electrical and Electronics engineering degree or equivalent industry experience. Familiar with working to marine/defence standards and Classification Society rules (LR, DNV, DEFSTAN etc.)
This role is to be based in Inchinnan, Glasgow however, some travel will be required as projects dictate.
