About The Role
Electrical Engineer based in Westhill, Aberdeen or Inchinnan, Glasgow. Permanent position.
JFD is the world leading underwater capability provider, serving the commercial and defence markets with innovative diving, submarine and hyperbaric rescue, technical solutions and services. Operating worldwide, the company is the world’s leading provider of submarine rescue capability and an established provider of submarine escape training. The company is at the forefront of Hyperbaric Rescue, along with being the leading supplier of commercial and defence diving equipment and saturation diving systems to the commercial industry.
To provide engineering design solutions and through life engineering support to the JFD product range. Workload can vary from new product design to meet client or internal specifications through to supporting an existing client’s request to upgrade or change equipment in the field.
Principle Accountabilities
- Provide engineering design input to new products and provide engineering support to the existing product range by assessing technical queries and providing engineering solutions.
- Liaise with internal JFD departments such as sales, procurement, and production to ensure the best technical solution is provided in all instances.
- Sourcing suitable components and materials when required and creation of part numbers and bill of materials.
- Creation of engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification and reports.
- Checking detailed electrical drawings and documentation, adherence to engineering and company standards and processes and compliance to internal and external standards & regulations.
- Ensuring engineering solutions are provided on time and on budget.
- Site visits to other JFD offices and client assets as and when required.
- Accountability and responsibility as technical checker of drawings and documentation generated in support of the electrical engineer role.
Qualifications And Experience
- Proven electrical and electronics design skills.
- Skilled in generating design calculations.
- Competent in the use of engineering design software tools/CAD packages.
- Knowledge of design standards.
- Previous product design experience would be advantageous, particularly DC systems.
- Ideally with experience from within a Graduate Engineer position.
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management system for generating and storage of engineering packages.
- Electrical and Electronics engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience working to marine, defence standards and class society rules (mainly LR and DNV).
- You will need to be able to pass security clearance for this role and also have the right to work and reside in the UK.
