About the Role

Here at Fendercare we are always looking for experienced seafarers. This is a talent pool application space where you can register your interest for the role of STS Superintendent / POAC. The role as STS Superintendent / POAC allows you to offer expert advice to the respective vessel masters involved in STS operations in order to accomplish a safe, co-ordinated and timely STS transfer.

In performing the role of the Person in Overall Advisory Control (POAC) you will:

  • Review the location-specific risk assessment and verify that any site-specific or operation specific risk mitigations are in place
  • Verify the provision of STS equipment, ensuring it is correct and fit for purpose for the operation
  • Attend and oversee the mobilisation process to ensure equipment is rigged in line with the intended operational plan and oversee the correct placement of primary and secondary fenders
  • Sight and review mooring equipment
  • Conduct pre-operations discussion with the responsible persons of involved vessels, including lightering support craft and tugs as appropriate
  • Discuss current and forecasted environmental conditions and the need for their continuous monitoring throughout the operation(s)
  • Review the Joint Plan of Operation (JPO) and ensure all details including emergency response are discussed and agreed with both vessel masters
  • Create a suitable mooring plan and verify joint agreement of the mooring and unmooring plans with STS vessels. Where required the plan is to be reviewed and approved by FCM office
  • Supervise vessel approach, manoeuvring alongside, unmooring and the separation of vessels
  • Supervise and confirm safe connection and disconnection of hoses / arms in accordance with FCM procedures
  • Verify that agreed STS operating procedures are followed and that the operation is conducted in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Provide operational updates as regularly as means of communications allow
  • Confirm that all required reports are made to the appropriate authorities and that all relevant checklists are completed
  • Confirm that cargo transfer rates are being monitored together with associated vapour management procedures, in accordance with the agreed cargo plan
  • Verify that cargo transfer lines are properly drained, purged and depressurised where required
  • Supervise the return of primary and secondary fenders, hoses and transfer equipment to safe storage

This is not a live/open role currently but any suitable applications will be reviewed in the future when opportunities arise.
