About The Role
The Product Manager is a growth role, that will focus on identification of new products and services within the Fendercare products revenue stream. A key initial focus of this role will be to lead the development and management of Fendercare’s fixed fendering capability, ensuring adequate oversight of the delivery of fixed fendering design and installation projects. This role requires strategic review of the full lifecycle of fixed fendering solutions, from concept development to installation, ensuring alignment with company objectives. Additionally, focus on new product development/introduction to the Fendercare portfolio.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Define market opportunities for fixed fendering solutions, including ports, harbours, offshore platforms, and marine infrastructure.
- Conduct extensive market and customer research to understand regional needs and challenges in fixed fendering installations.
- Develop and refine product positioning, value propositions, and technical messaging tailored to industry decision-makers, including civil engineers and port authorities.
- Identify gaps in existing fixed fendering offerings and generate ideas to enhance Fendercare's competitive advantage in bespoke fendering solutions.
- Establish strategic partnerships with marine construction firms, civil consultants, and port authorities to drive business growth.
Project Execution & Team Leadership
- Create and lead a dedicated Fixed Fendering Team, ensuring coordination across design, engineering, procurement, and installation teams.
- Identify quality partners to contract with for design/manufacture/installation project elements as necessary and according to budget.
- Oversee product development, from initial technical feasibility assessments to full-scale project deployment.
- Collaborate with engineering to ensure that Fendercare's fixed fendering systems meet safety, environmental, and performance standards.
- Develop standardized installation procedures for fixed fendering systems, ensuring efficiency and compliance with maritime regulations.
- Support on-site installation projects, providing expertise in product application and troubleshooting.
Sales & Customer Engagement
- Act as or identify a subject matter expert within the team or on a contracted basis for fixed fendering solutions, supporting sales teams with technical insights and customer consultations.
- Represent Fendercare by visiting clients, conducting site assessments, and providing recommendations for fixed fendering applications.
- Work closely with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and training resources for the sales force.
- Evaluate pricing strategies, ensuring a balance between profitability and competitive positioning in the market.
In Addition
- Identify new products and services for the Fendercare products revenue stream that will deliver profitable growth in line with strategic objectives and customer needs.
- Create and present business cases for these new products or services, working cross functionally to ensure business financial and compliance needs are met and having conducted adequate market analysis.
The Person
You will need strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex technical projects. The ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to engineers, port authorities, and business stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in product management or maritime infrastructure project management, preferably in fixed fendering solutions, marine construction, or port installations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in designing, developing, and implementing fixed fendering systems.
- Technical understanding of fendering materials, mooring forces, tidal variations, and marine environmental impacts.
- Experience in working with civil consultants and contractors for large-scale fixed fendering projects.
- A degree in Engineering, Maritime Studies, or related disciplines is preferred.
The role is to be based at the JF Fendercare offices in Seething, Norfolk therefore, you will need to be able to commute to this location. You will need a flexible approach to this role as regular travel will be necessary.
