About the Role

As part of our commitment to innovation, a core pillar of James Fisher, we have created an exciting new Market Analyst role within our Maritime Transport division. This position will play a key role in advancing our understanding of core markets, developing market reports, maximising value from existing systems and data sources, and strengthening market intelligence to support strategic decision-making. You will provide critical commercial insight, translating global market trends into clear, data-driven recommendations. Acting as a bridge between market intelligence and internal strategy, you will help ensure our decisions are proactive, informed, and aligned with long-term growth ambitions.

What you'll be doing:

  • Support the development of frameworks to gather market intelligence, competitor data, and industry trends.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of market data for reliable insights.
  • Monitor market shifts and competitor positioning, highlighting risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver tailored market insights aligned to strategy.
  • Maintain processes to size key markets and support strategy and product development.
  • Organise and maintain market intelligence systems and research repositories.
  • Transform data into actionable insights, supporting dashboards, KPIs, and monthly reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline research and automate data collection.
  • Assist with data integration during system upgrades or strategic changes.
  • Track industry, economic, and geopolitical developments.
  • Contribute to internal briefings and promote data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure all research activities comply with data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR).

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics or a related field.
  • Experience with reporting tools (e.g. Power BI).
  • Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
  • Exposure to statistical tools (e.g. Python or R).
  • Understanding of data governance, privacy, and security (e.g. GDPR).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for varied audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment.
