About The Role

Supporting globally critical submarine escape and rescue operations, the Global Operations HSSE Advisor plays a key role in ensuring people, assets and the environment are protected. This role provides expert guidance across international operations, strengthening operational readiness, supporting the safe delivery of complex missions, and helping embed a proactive and mature safety culture that underpins sustainable operational success.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide HSSE advice, guidance and support across NSRS and wider SERS operations, covering steady state, mobilisation and operational phases.
  • Support operational leaders to identify, assess and control HSSE risks, including maintaining hazard logs, risk registers and risk assessment processes.
  • Ensure risk controls are implemented, monitored and effective, advising on unsafe practices, emerging risks and required corrective actions.
  • Embed HSSE considerations into planning, maintenance, training, exercises, mobilisations and deployments, acting as Safety Representative when required.
  • Monitor compliance with legal, regulatory and company HSSE requirements through inspections, audits and assurance activities.
  • Lead and support incident and near‑miss reporting, investigation and analysis, ensuring corrective and preventative actions are implemented and embedded.
  • Drive learning and continuous improvement through effective use of Intelex, sharing best practice, lessons learned and managing HSEC safety observation actions.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through safety committees, briefings, communications, training support and incident management during operations.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven HSSE advisory or management experience in operational environments such as marine, defence, offshore, diving or similar high‑risk settings.
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSSE legislation, with awareness of relevant international standards (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Solid experience in risk assessment, hazard identification, incident investigation, audits, inspections and compliance monitoring.
  • Experience contributing to the development and continuous improvement of HSSE systems, procedures and risk management practices.
  • Relevant HSSE qualification (e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent); professional membership (e.g. IOSH) and additional specialist training desirable.
  • Ability to interpret operational risk and provide practical, proportionate advice, with high levels of integrity, professionalism and sound judgement.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally at short notice, operate offshore or onboard vessels, and work irregular hours in high‑readiness or emergency response environments.
  • Medically fit for offshore work (ENG1, Diving Medical or equivalent) and operational readiness requirements.
