About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Project Engineer to join JFD, working across a diverse product range within the commercial and defence diving sectors where we are a leading technology and service provider. The role spans electrical control and instrumentation for commercial saturation diving—supporting digital diver communications, integrated monitoring and bell control systems—as well as hyperbaric life‑support systems that incorporate high‑accuracy gas analysis and environmental controls capable of operating at high pressures in mixed‑gas environments. You will also contribute to defence diving products, including electronically controlled rebreathers and tactical delivery vehicles using advanced battery technology and automation, and support the NATO submarine rescue capability delivered by JFD under a long‑term service contract.

As part of the Electrical Controls & Instrumentation team, you will provide engineering design solutions and through‑life support, from developing new products to meet client and internal specifications, to maintaining legacy systems and managing obsolescence through targeted upgrades.

What you'll be doing:

  • Support engineering design input to new products and provide support to the existing product range by answering queries and providing engineering solutions.
  • Sourcing suitable components and materials when required and create part numbers and bill of materials.
  • Creation of engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification, and reports.
  • Checking detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation.
  • Adherence to engineering and company standards and processes.
  • Site visits to other JFD offices and client assets as and when required.
  • Compliance to internal and external standards & regulations.

What we're looking for:

  • Electrical / Electronic / Manufacturing Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of electrical design and manufacturing of instrumentation systems.
  • Experience in 2D /3D drafting (AutoCAD, Solidworks or similar).
  • Preparation and maintenance of comprehensive project documentation including specifications and drawings.
  • Ability to co-ordinate with cross functional teams including mechanical engineers.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in an Electrical Project Engineering role.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management system for generating and storage of engineering packages.
  • Previous diving or subsea equipment design experience would be advantageous.
  • Any relevant diving qualifications would be advantageous.

Why join us:

  • Early finish on Fridays.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package aligned with experience (Private Medical Insurance, Life Assurance, Cycle to work scheme, Company Pension, etc.).
  • Clear pathways for career development and organisational visibility.
  • Inclusive and supportive culture that values individual contributions.
  • Meaningful work with impact across safety, innovation, and global operations.
