The Role
We are seeking a Cost Controller to join our Energy Services & Renewables team. This is a divisional role with a strong focus on renewables, while also supporting other areas of the Energy Division. You will be responsible for managing project-specific costs, producing accurate forecasts, and acting as a key link between Finance and Project teams.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in cost control and data analysis, who thrives in a collaborative environment, and is eager to contribute to high-impact projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, control, and report project costs using finance systems and internal rate registers.
- Prepare and maintain project-specific cost tracker and forecasting models.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to define and revise control budgets, highlighting and justifying any variances.
- Produce periodic Project Status Reports covering costs, contingency, risks, and opportunities.
- Flag commercial concerns to the Project Manager as they arise.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to forecast and report costs against budget and contract requirements.
- Align with the Project Manager and Planner on scheduling, progress, and value of work done.
- Update budgets and revenue forecasts in line with approved Variation Orders.
- Review cost and revenue impacts of pending and approved Variation Orders.
- Support tracking of project risks, opportunities, and non-quality cost events.
- Liaise with Supply Chain on requisitioning, hire control, and goods receipting.
- Assist with project closure, including PO reconciliation and final margin reporting.
Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience
- Proven experience in cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (IFS preferred, but SAP or similar is also valuable.
- Experience in the offshore, oil & gas, or renewables industry is preferred.
- Background with service providers is advantageous due to the customer-facing nature of the role.
- Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Inquisitive mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
