We're looking for a skilled Garage Mechanic to join our Engineering team in Burneside.

What you'll be doing
As our Garage Mechanic, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of mobile equipment, road vehicles, trailers and forklift trucks, ensuring they remain safe, reliable and operational.
You will be responsible for
- Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across our fleet and mobile plant.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
- Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Record maintenance activities and asset history through our maintenance management systems.
- Support continuous improvement activities focused on safety, efficiency and equipment reliability.
- Work closely with operators, suppliers and contractors to keep our operations running smoothly.
- Provide cover for the Garage Chargehand Mechanic when required.
- What we’re looking for
We are seeking a practical problem-solver with a passion for engineering and vehicle maintenance.
You’ll ideally have
- HNC/HND qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
- Apprentice-trained background in motor vehicle technology.
- Experience maintaining HGVs, trailers, forklifts or mobile plant equipment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
- Welding experience using gas or electric welding methods.
- Good understanding of vehicle legislation, environmental requirements and health & safety standards.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
Additional licences such as Forklift Truck and HGV Class 1 are advantageous.
