We’re recruiting a Lead Developer for an established UK health‑tech SaaS business whose platform is used across the NHS and private healthcare. This is a genuinely hands‑on role for an experienced Lead Developer who enjoys coding, takes pride in clean architecture, and wants to work on technology that has real‑world impact on patient outcomes. The engineering function has grown, the product is proven, and the focus now is on delivery, quality, and technical leadership as the platform continues to scale.

The role:

  • You’ll take technical ownership of the core platform, leading development while remaining deeply hands‑on. Around 75% of your time will be spent coding, with the remainder focused on guiding the team, reviewing work, and supporting high‑quality delivery.
  • You’ll work closely with Product, Mobile, and Ops, helping drive integrations, maintain high engineering standards, and ensure the platform continues to meet regulatory and security expectations.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading development across a Java and Spring Boot backend
  • Writing and owning complex, business‑critical code
  • Working closely with mobile engineers using React Native
  • Supporting NHS and third‑party integrations
  • Maintaining strong unit testing and automated test coverage
  • Reviewing code and guiding technical decision‑making
  • Mentoring developers and raising engineering standards

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Lead Developer or senior technical leader
  • Strong hands‑on Java and Spring Boot experience
  • Experience working with mobile applications (React Native preferred)
  • Background in complex or regulated environments
  • Strong approach to unit testing and code quality
  • Comfortable leading developers while staying hands‑on
  • Healthcare or NHS experience is beneficial but not essential.

This is a remote‑first role, open to candidates across the UK. Hybrid working is available for those based near Brighton.

Salary & benefits:

  • Salary between ÂŁ65,000 and ÂŁ75,000, depending on experience
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Health cash plan, life assurance, and income protection
  • Flexible remote or hybrid working

If you’re a Lead Developer looking for a role where you can stay hands‑on, influence technical direction, and work on a platform already making a difference at scale, we’d love to hear from you.
