Our client, a sector leading London transport operator, is seeking a Director of Project Delivery to lead the successful planning, execution, and delivery of high-profile strategic and operational projects across the business. This is a pivotal role, ensuring the project portfolio drives value, supports the long-term strategy, and upholds operational excellence. You will work closely with executive leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners to deliver complex, business critical programmes, with significant impact. You'll be working in a dynamic, fast paced and entrepreneurial environment, so the ability to adapt and pivot when needed is key. Please note this role is a hybrid role, with offices in London, and the expectation to be in the offices 4 days a week. Excellent salary and benefits package offered. Please note there is no sponsorship or visa allowances available for this role and candidates must be UK residents with right to work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the project portfolio, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy.
  • Prioritise programmes based on business impact, resources, and risk.
  • Provide strong governance, monitoring milestones and proactively resolving risks or delivery challenges.
  • Act as the senior liaison between leadership, project teams, and third-party delivery partners.
  • Drive collaboration and accountability across internal teams.
  • Ensure robust project controls, reporting frameworks, and delivery standards are in place.
  • Manage vendor and contractor performance, ensuring compliance and value for money.
  • Work with Finance, Operations, and wider business units on resource and budget alignment.
  • Promote continuous improvement, embedding lessons learned to enhance future delivery.

About you

  • Degree in a relevant field (Project Management, Engineering, Transport Operations, Business Administration, Construction Management, or similar).
  • 7+ years’ experience in programme or project delivery, ideally in construction (primary focus), transport, maritime, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Experienced in managing capital budgets of £5m+.
  • SME and private sector company experience.
  • Proven track record in leading complex, cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Expert communication and relationship building skills, able to bring stakeholders along with you.
  • People/line management experience.
  • Strong experience in contractor/vendor management, including performance monitoring and dispute resolution.
  • Skilled in project management methodologies (PRINCE2, MSP, Agile, or equivalent) and ideally possessing project management accreditation.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to turn big-picture goals into deliverable action plans.
