We are working on behalf of our client to recruit an experienced Network & Security Engineer to join their IT infrastructure team on a contract basis.

The Role

This position sits within the IT infrastructure function and focuses on the day-to-day operation and support of network and security systems. You will deliver 2nd and 3rd line support across Data Centre network and security infrastructure, handling incidents through to resolution and carrying out root cause analysis on problems. You will also build, configure and operate Data Centre technologies across live, DR and test environments, support IT change management processes, and monitor infrastructure to identify and act on performance improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the operation and maintenance of the IT infrastructure
  • Deliver 2nd and 3rd line incident support within the Data Centre network and security environment
  • Build, configure and operate Data Centre technologies across live, DR and test environments
  • Manage IT problems, including root cause analysis and delivery of solutions
  • Operate data network infrastructure, including WAN, Wi-Fi and cyber security solutions
  • Support IT change management processes to protect the live estate
  • Develop and maintain standards and specifications for new network deployments
  • Monitor and optimise infrastructure performance
  • Contribute to IT service management reporting and KPI collation

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven knowledge of Cisco and Fortinet technologies
  • Experience with network monitoring tools, including SolarWinds
  • Working knowledge of ITIL processes, including incident, problem and event management
  • Strong prioritisation and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good understanding of IT services within a corporate environment
  • Cisco (CCNA) or Fortinet (NSE4) certification, or equivalent
