The predicted salary is between 85000 - 90000 £ per year.

We are currently partnering with a local authority based in Central-Southern England, who are recruiting for a Finance Business Partner (SEND/High Needs) to join their team on a six month temporary basis. This is a full-time position with an hourly rate band of £40.77 - £43.13 via an Umbrella company and the start date is ASAP dependant on notice. There is hybrid working available with two days required in the office based in Oxford per month.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Playing a crucial role in delivering the existing Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) with a focus on the current and upcoming year
  • Networking across the organisation and with external entities including other councils and public bodies
  • Maintaining an overview of the financial position, management, risks and opportunities of the relevant service, while understanding the national context
  • Working proactively within corporate finance guidelines to facilitate the completion of financial strategies, produce analysis for decision-making, and identify future opportunities and risks
  • Holding significant involvement in revenue monitoring, forecasting and reporting, providing assurance on the accuracy and timeliness of financial information both within finance and to service management and boards
  • Supporting good financial management practices, managing cost centre hierarchies and contributing to capital programme activities, ensuring effective communication of financial risks and opportunities and targeted challenge to service managers and officers
  • Providing commercial insights on how budgets are utilised most effectively and providing support to services as a point of technical expertise

Skills and experience required:

  • Extensive SEND/High Needs finance experience
  • Experience working within Education with in-depth knowledge of dedicated schools grant requirements and regulations
  • Qualified/part qualified is desirable (ACCA/CIMA)

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
