We are currently partnering with a Local Authority based in Oxfordshire, who are recruiting for a Childcare Solicitor to join their team on a 3 month locum basis, with opportunities for extension past this. This is a full-time position with an hourly rate of £50 - £60/hour (umbrella) and the start date is subject to notice. Office/court presence in Oxfordshire will be required at least one day per week.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing a caseload of Childcare legal matters, including care proceedings, PLOs and DOLs
  • Representing the Council in attended hearings concerning children in the Family Court
  • Providing a comprehensive legal service on all aspects of child protection work to the Children, Young People and Families Directorate and to the Council
  • Briefing Counsel on behalf of the Council in the Family Court, and obtaining Counsel’s opinion on any relevant matters relating to children’s proceedings
  • Advising on, negotiating and drafting legal documents to give effect to decisions of the Client Directorate and the Council

Requirements:

  • Recent experience working within Childcare law for a Local Authority

Working hours: 37 hours per week. Please note that you require recent experience to apply for this role.
