We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the West Midlands, who are recruiting for a Project Lawyer to support with a Trusts & Charity Property Deeds Review on an initial 3-month locum contract. The position is due to start immediately, and they're looking for someone on a full-time basis. The hourly rate of pay is £50 - £65 via an Umbrella company, and they will need someone to attend the office to inspect deeds.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience with:

  • Property law (registered and unregistered land)
  • Trusts and charity law
  • Local government or public sector legal frameworks

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that the Council is ready to properly discharge its duties as trustee or custodian trustee, maintaining full compliance with the Charities Act and delivering a clear understanding of the Council's charitable land and property holdings.
  • Determining the nature of legal title (charitable trust, implied trust, restricted purpose, or non-charitable).
  • Demonstrable ability to produce clear legal reasoning and written reports.
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads and project milestones.
