The predicted salary is between 48000 - 72000 Β£ per year.

We are currently partnering with a Local Authority based in Staffordshire, who are recruiting for a Principal Solicitor to join their growing team on a 3-6 month locum contract (minimum). This is a full-time (37 hour/week) position with a negotiable hourly/daily rate and the start date is subject to notice. Office presence required weekly.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing a team overseeing legal services primarily relating to planning, litigation, governance, and regulatory affairs, providing expert guidance and support
  • Directly line managing a team of 7, including Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors and a Legal Administrator
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards
  • Providing strategic legal advice to senior stakeholders
  • Supporting the Monitoring Officer in legal oversight and risk management
  • Attending various committee meetings

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor
  • Experience managing a team within legal services
  • Expertise in planning law and regulatory matters
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage complex legal cases
