We are delighted to be partnering with a leading organisation to recruit a Senior Employee Relations Specialist Team Leader to join their established Employee Relations team in Northampton.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Employee Relations professional to take the next step in their career, leading a high-performing team while managing complex ER matters and partnering with stakeholders across the business.
The role offers a blend of operational and leadership responsibilities within a fast-paced and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coaching and developing a team of Employee Relations Specialists, providing day-to-day guidance, support and performance management
- Allocating and overseeing ER casework, ensuring a consistent, high-quality service is delivered across the business
- Acting as the escalation point for complex, sensitive and high-risk employee relations matters
- Providing expert advice and guidance on a wide range of ER issues, including disciplinary, grievance, appeal and absence management cases
- Partnering with managers and senior leaders to support effective decision-making and achieve positive employee relations outcomes
- Delivering commercially focused, legally compliant advice in line with company policy and employment legislation
- Managing dispute resolution and workplace mediation activity, helping to resolve employee concerns proactively
- Supporting the management of long-term sickness and occupational health cases across designated business areas
- Accurately recording case activity within the CRM system and maintaining comprehensive case documentation
- Contributing to the review and continuous improvement of ER policies, processes and guidance documents
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Significant Employee Relations experience within a busy HR, Shared Services or advisory environment
- A strong understanding of UK employment law and its practical application
- Proven experience handling complex disciplinaries, grievances, appeals, absence management and employee relations escalations
- Previous people management or team leadership experience, with the ability to coach and develop others
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence influencing at all levels
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience providing remote and telephone-based HR advice within a fast-paced environment
- A Level 5 HR qualification (or equivalent) and formal mediation training
