We are proud to be partnering with an academy trust with 24 schools across the Greater Manchester region, who are looking to appoint a Governance Manager on a permanent basis.

This will be a full-time position based in Greater Manchester, with hybrid working (1/2 days home working) and a salary of £50,269 - £54,495 per annum. This is also a term-time only position.

The successful candidate will have extensive governance experience and ideally have experience working within the education sector.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Clerking the Trust Board and its committees, ensuring meetings are effective, compliant and strategically focused
  • Advising the Chair, Directors and senior leaders on governance, constitutional and procedural matters
  • Leading the Trust’s panels framework (compliance, exclusions, admissions, disciplinary and other statutory panels
  • Developing, reviewing and maintaining governance documents, such as articles of association, schemes of delegation, terms of reference, role descriptions and code of conduct
  • Overseeing Governance compliance across the Trust
  • Supporting all administration as required across the Trust, including internal audit and Headteacher recruitment

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Education (highly desirable)
  • In-depth understanding of governance law, structures and procedures
  • Senior clerking or governance management experience
  • Experience of advising boards or panels

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Advanced minute taking and report writing
  • Calm and resilient under pressure
  • Proactive in adapting governance systems to meet evolving regulatory and strategic requirements
