Are you a detailed and organised HR Adviser who has excellent working knowledge of HR processes, alongside a solid understanding of employment law, and who is looking to utilise their skills in a fast paced and progressive environment!

James Andrews are proud to be partnering with a leading not-for-profit employer who are now looking to appoint a HR Adviser on a temporary contract for initially three months. This will be a full-time position based in Derbyshire, with hybrid working offered alongside a competitive hourly rate.

The ideal candidate will have practical experience of providing HR support at all levels, specifically including managing absence cases and supporting line managers with disciplinary and grievance hearings.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing an advisory service to line managers across the business, ensuring they’re aware of their responsibilities and options with regards to managing the employment life cycle
  • Attending the employee forums, developing effective working relationships to facilitate changes
  • Providing advice and guidance on a range of people policies and related issues to all team members to support their understanding
  • Supporting managers with the effective and efficient performance of their team members, identifying and facilitating appropriate interventions
  • Guiding managers through employee relations cases, intervening and steering in the appropriate direction
  • Leading on the management of casework, relating to sickness absence and health and wellbeing, including making recommendations and giving advice and support to managers
  • Supporting HR and hiring managers where required from planning to offer stage, including delivery of HR inductions to new starters
  • Monitoring, reviewing and updating people policies and procedures periodically to reflect best practice and employment law changes

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Practical experience of providing routine hands-on HR support at all levels, specifically including managing absence cases and supporting line managers with disciplinary and grievance hearings
  • Experience of supporting more complex HR issues such as TUPE transfers and Employee Relations cases
  • Working knowledge and understanding of HR processes and a good understanding of employment law and current developments in HR practice
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (flexible hours offered)
  • Hybrid working offered (3 days WFH as a minimum)
