We are proud to be partnering with a Local Authority based in Wales, who are looking to appoint an Education Solicitor on a 3 month (minimum) locum contract.

This role can be completed on a fully remote basis and offers an hourly rate of circa. Β£50 – Β£60/hour via an umbrella company.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing high-quality legal advice and support on education law matters to internal clients across the Local Authority
  • Advising on statutory responsibilities under the Education Acts, including school admissions, exclusions, attendance, special educational needs (SEN), and safeguarding
  • Handling casework and represent the authority in relation to Education Tribunal matters, particularly involving the First-tier Tribunal (SEND)
  • Drafting and review a range of legal documents including advice notes, agreements, reports, and tribunal documentation
  • Supporting and advising education officers, school staff, and other stakeholders on legal duties and best practices
  • Managing a caseload of education law matters efficiently and independently, including judicial reviews and complex advisory issues
  • Liaising effectively with external organisations including courts, legal counsel, government bodies, and schools
  • Attending and representing the Local Authority at multi-agency meetings and panels where legal input is required
