The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

Our client, based in London, is currently recruiting for a Committee Services Officer on a 6-month temporary contract. The position is due to start as soon as possible on a full-time basis. The hourly rate is negotiable based on experience for this position.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensuring the efficient and effective conduct of meetings of the Council, Cabinet, Regulatory Committees, sub-committees and a range of other formal meetings.
  • Providing clear, in-depth and accurate advice to elected members on legal, constitutional and political matters.
  • Monitoring the progress and achievement of scrutiny review recommendations using innovative research and analytical techniques.
  • Liaising with lead members and Committee Chairmen on matters relating to their respective roles and responsibilities, providing support and advice as necessary.
  • Leading and supporting the effective operation of the Overview & Scrutiny Committee and its sub-committees or panels, including the undertaking of high-level research and analysis and the preparation of reports for presentation at Overview & Scrutiny meetings.

Experience required:

  • Considerable experience of administration of meetings at an advanced level, preferably in a local government environment, including minute taking.
  • Experience of advising on governance issues, including the provision of procedural advice to committee chairs.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines often under pressure.
  • Knowledge of the political framework and functions and structure of local authorities at regional and national level.

  • Excellent MS Office knowledge and technology savvy.
  • Fanatical attention to detail.
  • Outstanding organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management ability.

Working hours: 36 hours per week, Monday – Friday (9-5). Required in the office for council.
