We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the West Midlands, who are recruiting for a Prosecutions Lawyer to join the team on an initial 3-month locum contract. The position is due to start immediately, and they are looking for someone on a full-time basis. The hourly rate of pay is circa £55 via an Umbrella company, but this may be negotiable. The role will require attendance at court.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor (or equivalent), and be experienced managing varied prosecutions cases at magistrates court. Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Managing a varied caseload of prosecutions and regulatory matters
- Preparing and conducting prosecutions in the Magistrates' Court, including matters relating to trading standards, planning enforcement and other regulatory offences
- Drafting and reviewing legal documentation, reports and committee papers, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and local authority procedures
- Representing the authority at court hearings across the Greater Manchester area, managing cases efficiently within tight timescales
Experience required:
- Experience in Local Government
- Experience managing varied prosecutions cases
- Experience at magistrates court
