The predicted salary is between 75 - 75 £ per hour.

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the West Midlands, who are currently recruiting for a locum Principal Lawyer to join their Prosecutions team for an initial 3-6 months, with likelihood of extension. The role offers hybrid working, with attendance required at court as needed. They can offer up to £75 per hour via an Umbrella company.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Provided legal advice, guidance and practical assistance to the Local Authority on a wide range of criminal matters.
  • Prepared cases for court and liaised with the relevant clients from various departments within the local authority who had referred matters to the litigation department.
  • Dealt with the full advocacy of cases, prosecuting matters on behalf of the Council on a regular basis.
  • Instructed and worked with external Barristers/Counsel on various matters due to be heard at Court.
  • Prepared briefs for Counsel, agreed fees with chambers, obtained written advice from Counsel, and liaised with them on matters due for court.

Working hours: 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
