We are currently partnering with a Housing Association based in Kent, who are recruiting for a Head of Governance and Risk to join their growing team on a fixed term basis of 12-14 months. This is a full-time position with a salary of c. £75,000 and the start date will be April.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Acting as the organisational lead on governance and compliance matters, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
- Maintaining governance registers, overseeing statutory and contractual obligations, and ensuring timely regulatory returns.
- Supporting board succession planning, appraisals, training and acting as a key liaison between the board and the wider business.
- Leading on organisational risk management, internal controls and overseeing the internal audit function.
- Overseeing compliance with data protection regulations and ensuring procurement practices align with legislation while delivering value for money.
- Managing external advisory contracts (e.g., legal and internal audit) and leading a small team, including governance, data protection and procurement officers.
Experience required:
- Qualified or part qualified Company Secretary or demonstrable experience in a regulated sector.
- Strong, up to date, professional knowledge of the legal, regulatory and policy frameworks in which Housing Associations operate.
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
- Company Secretarial experience in the Housing Sector of a similar sized Housing Association or larger.
- Demonstrable experience in managing data protection function for a similar sized organisation or larger.
- Experience of researching, developing and implementing effective policies.
