Our client – based in Hertfordshire – is currently looking for a HR Business Partner to join their central HR function on a 9 month fixed term contract on a part-time basis. The role is 30 hours per week, and the hiring manager is flexible about how these hours are worked per week!
Start date: Dependent on notice period, ideally October 2026
Salary: £54,000 per annum (FTE)
Duties will include (but not limited to):
- Provide strategic and operational HR Business Partner support across a broad generalist remit, advising managers and senior leaders on a wide range of people-related matters.
- Support organisational change and workforce planning, advising on HR implications, workforce requirements, organisational structures, employee engagement and potential employee relations risks.
- Coach and influence managers to strengthen their people management and leadership skills, providing guidance on performance, conduct, absence and employee development, while constructively challenging inappropriate behaviours and decisions.
- Provide expert advice on complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance and absence cases, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with managers and senior stakeholders, acting as a trusted HR adviser and providing proactive, commercially focused advice aligned with organisational strategy.
- Support the implementation of HR initiatives, policies and organisational programmes, contributing to employee engagement, organisational effectiveness and improved people management practices.
Experience required:
- CIPD Level 3 qualification as a minimum - Essential
- Background working in the public sector - Essential
- Experience working with trade unions – Essential
- Knowledge of the iTrent system - Desirable
