James Adams Group is working with a well-established financial services organisation to hire a QA Engineer (Data). This is a foundational role in their newly formed Data team.
This is an exciting opportunity to be in from the beginning where you won’t inherit someone else’s test framework or fit into an established process. You’ll help define how a new team makes sure its data is accurate and reliable, working directly with Data Engineers, Data Analyst and business stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing
- Building and running test strategies, plans and cases for data pipelines, datasets and data products
- Spotting quality risks and coverage gaps before they become problems
- Logging and tracking defects in Azure DevOps, and working with engineers to get them fixed and verified
- Improving quality processes, documentation and release readiness across teams
- Contributing to the long-term QA strategy
What you’ll bring
- Proven QA experience testing data-intensive applications, ideally in cloud-native environments
- Strong SQL for data validation, reconciliation and troubleshooting
- Hands-on test automation experience, with Python or similar
- A solid grasp of testing methodologies (functional, regression, integration, performance) and the defect lifecycle
- Experience testing data warehouses, lakes and pipelines
- Exposure to Azure and modern data platforms such as Synapse or Snowflake
- A self-starter mindset and comfort working across business and technology teams
Nice to have
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
- Familiarity with data quality tooling
- Experience with financial services or lending data. If you don’t have this, it’s fine as long as you can pick it up quickly.
Why apply?
Our client values potential and transferable skills as much as experience. If this role excites you but you don’t tick every box, it’s still worth a conversation.
